Description

Tea made using tea powder is a very mild stimulant, since it contains caffeine. Tea powder contains small quantities of tannic compounds called polyphenols, vitamin A, B2, C, D, K, and P, plus a number of minerals in trace amounts and also aromatic oils. Matcha is high in a catechin called EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate ), which is believed to have cancer-fighting effects on the body. Studies have linked green tea to a variety of health benefits, like helping to prevent heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer, and even encouraging weight loss. White tea, for instance, has the highest concentration of antioxidants because it is the least processed tea. By this standard, it might be considered the “healthiest” of them all. As far as antioxidants are concerned, white tea is followed by jasmine tea, green tea, then black tea. Drinking more than 4 cups of coffee a day may increase your blood pressure. If you’re a big fan of coffee, tea or other caffeine-rich drinks, such as cola and some energy drinks, consider cutting down. To preserve its freshness as long as possible, tea should be stored in a cool and dry place, in a container that is opaque and airtight. An airtight tin is best. Avoid glass jars, as this exposes the tea to light. Two years all will eventually lose their flavor, and the phytochemicals (primarily flavonoids) they contain will degrade. However, dried tea leaves that are kept dry will not spoil, and as long as they are stored away from heat, water, light and air, the flavor and phytochemical content can be maintained for up to two years.
